This is the Royal History of England during the 1500's. Edward VI at the age of nine years old was crowned King Edward VI of England, he was the only legitimate heir of King Henry VIII. King Edward VI only reigned a short time until he was fifteen years old. King Edward VI followed in his father's foot steps, he continued to lead the people in Protestantism. He left a lasting impression on the Churches of England.King Edward's rise was a struggle with economics and social issues his work advanced the religious reformation of the Church of England that changed the country forever. King Edward VI made his place in history as boy king who opened the doors for Protestants. No matter what happen after his death, the people of England can still see the impact he made while he was king. At the age of fifteen King Edward VI became ill on July 6, 1553, he died. He was buried beside his father, King Henry VIII.Mary, King Edward's half sister, became Queen Mary Of England. She reign for five years before she died. Elizabeth Tudor, her half sister whom was Protestant became Queen Elizabeth of England, she reign for 43 years. This was a fast paced, well written book with characters vividly described. I enjoy reading these books, they give me a better understanding of England's history. I recommend this book to everyone of all ages.
I knew very little about Edward VI other than he was Henry’s son. Interesting that he had such a strong opinion about the church at his young age and his reasons for choosing Jane Gray to succeed him. It would have been interesting to see what type of leader he would have been if he had lived. This book had “just the facts†with little depth, but enough to peak my curiosity to learn more. Thanks
This is an interesting summary of a very short - but very challenging - life.It's bewildering to read about the irrelevance of religion, but it's considerable impact on history.What more could past (and present) rulers have achieved without the interference of religion?
King Henry VI would have made a fine king of he had lived longer, he died not reaching 16 years. A turbulent time during the transition of England from Catholicism to Protestantism. Excellent read.
Very pro-Protestant but helpful biography of the king and his reign. A map would be helpful to see where the battles and rebellions took place.
Growing up in school, world history was poorly covered. About the only things we learned of England were King Arthur, the Boston Tea Party and the American Revolution. This book was a great introduction into a period of English life right after the death of Henry the VIII and during the Protestant reformation.
Those was a very informative read for being so short. I enjoyed it very much!
