Parker Baylor is a good, kind, handsome, young man. I first read about Parker in “Fumbled Hearts†book 1 in this series. “ Defenseless Hearts†is book 2 and about his journey to love. It’s not an easy journey and he’s been keeping the love of his life a secret from all his best friends and family. Kenra Monroe’s has been the love of Parker’s life but, she’s taken. She loves Parker but chooses her boyfriend and continues to choose him even when the relationship is mentally abusive. Why? This story is a journey discovery, of sadness, of fighting for what you want and of forgiveness. Meagan wrote a story full of emotions. It was a ride with these two characters. We also, get her secondary characters who play a huge role in this book and you will love them deeply also. Get on and enjoy the roller coaster ride. When you’re done it will be a ride worth reading!
Defenseless Hearts is book two in the Tender Hearts series, and I strongly recommend reading book one, Fumbled Hearts, first.In Defenseless Hearts, just when I thought there was no more angst to be found there was! I need a book to make me feel things, and this book did, in ways I never expected it to.We first meet Parker Baylor in Fumbled Hearts, and he is everything we learned about him then, and more. Selfless, caring, loyal, hot, and so far gone for the one girl he can't have. I can't count the number of times my heart broke for him. At points it was hard to read his heart break a little more each time he was left behind. But that's what makes him such a great hero. His strength and belief in love make him perfection.I won't give away who his love is, you will need to read to find that out for yourself. At times I struggled to understand Parker's love for her, but I chose to believe in her as a person, and find out the reasons why she and Parker are not together.If you enjoyed Fumbled Hearts you will definitely love Defenseless Hearts. Don't miss out on Parker's story!Meagan Brandy's stories just keep getting better and better and I can't wait for what's coming up next!
This author grabbed my attention with her debut book Complicated Hearts. This second standalone in the series cements her as a one click author for me.This one has a different kind of NA angst for me. It's more painful and emotional. These characters are brought together and torn apart by circumstances, by bad decisions and by fear. The author touches on some difficult subjects but does it an honest and respectful way. I ranted A LOT during this book, I yelled at my Ipad, sent lots of cranky messages and my heart broke. It's a roller coaster of a read.Parker is EVERYTHING I knew he would be from book one. He is strong and brave and boy did he make me swoon. I also loved the supporting characters and look forward to their stories being told.
Defenseless Hearts by Meagan Brandy is the second novel in the Tender Hearts series. I highly recommend reading Fumbled Hearts first to get some back story on these amazing and unforgettable characters. Plus you don't want to miss out on Lolli!! She's hands down one of my most favorite heroines ever!!From the very first sentence in Defenseless Hearts, the author commands your attention and you won't be able to set this book down until the very last page.... unless, of course, it's to curse or vent and rage. In fact, I strongly encourage buddy reading! The author will set you on an emotional journey that will test you. You must have faith in Parker, our beloved Hero, and trust what he sees in his girl. She will make you want to scream and cry and you'll want to shake some sense into her! But stick with her! They will face extremely challenging circumstances, but everything happens for a reason!! Back to Parker- he was everything I wanted him to be and more. He has jumped my list and is now one of my all time favorite Heroes. I simply adore him. He is loyal, patient, caring and wears his whole heart on his sleeve! You just can't help but love him. *Insert all the heart eyes and endless swooning*You can tell the author put her heart and soul into this novel and she continues to amaze me with her writing talent. Plus she has the skill to make me rage like no other!! This novel is nothing like her previous work and I love seeing her evolve as a writer! I am beyond excited to read her next novel! (complete understatement!!!!!) I am a Meagan Brandy fan and reader for life!!!
Ok so I loved fumbled hearts Nate and kalani story was awesome. But parkers story was an emotional rollercoaster that at times reminded me of a season of scandal/ or Grey's with all the twists and turns.I loved the Nate moments we really got to see him not just with kalani but being a brother to kenra. And we got to see Kalani and Parkers friendship which I loved. Loved the introduction to new characters and the return of some awesome beloved characters.But this is Parkers story and I enjoyed seeing who Hero rescued and how much he loved hard no matter the obstacle he was not giving up on his woman. Hero personality shined throughout the story which along the phenomenal story telling made this book difficult to put down.
